Flamingo Watch @ BPS Batch 2

Location: Bhandup Pumping Station

Maharashtra Government has declared the northern part of Thane Creek as Flamingo Sanctuary. This is the state’s second marine sanctuary after Malvan.

About 200 species of birds have been reported in this area, which includes Greater Spotted Eagle, Osprey, Pied Avocet, Western Reef Heron, Black headed Ibis, Marsh Sandpiper, Common Greenshank, Brown headed Gull, Whiskered Tern, Caspian Tern, Eurasian Marsh Harrier, and Kingfishers etc.

Program Schedule:

·        Sunday 11th Feb 2018 – Gather at Nahur Railway Station East at 6.30 am

·        Proceed to sanctuary, will do birding till boating point (1 Hr Walk).

·        We will take a boat ride through the sanctuary (1.5 Hrs )

·        Return back to Nahur Station at 10.30 am

·        Contribution per person is Rs. 800/-

(This includes Snacks and Boat Ride cost).
