Kohoj Fort

 Kohoj Fort is situated in Palghar District at a height of 3200 ft. It is about 800 years old fort that was surrendered to Mughals in Purandar Treaty

History :

The fort is said to be belonging to Bhoj Period from the well Dug cisterns. In 16th Century, Portuguese captured this Fort from King of Gujarat. They constructed Fortifications & Bastions on the fort. Later in 18th Century, Peshwe conquered this fort in 1737. Afterwards this fort remained under British Rule. 

You come across a beautiful Pazher Lake on the way to Fort. One can see Lord Shankar & Krishna Temples, an idol of Lord Hanuman along with Water Cisterns and remnants of the Forts. Kohoj is majorly famous for the Man shaped pinnacle on the top. Tandulwadi, Takmak & Asheri Forts can be seen from the Top of the Fort. 

Trek Schedule:

·     On 16th July, Reporting at Palghar at 8.00 am ( Central Line Participants Can take Dombivali - Boisar Train @ 5.33 am)

·     Move to Waghote Village by 8.45 am  after Breakfast

·     Start Trek by 10 am & Reach the top by 1 pm (3 hours trek) & Explore

·     Start Descending post Lunch & Reach the base by 5.00 pm

·     Reach Palghar Station by 6 pm & move towards Mumbai by train
